J. Robert Carmichael - President/CEO and Founder
With over 25 years in the trade level industry and field operations, Carmichael has strong optical, mechanical and electrical understanding and expertise. Under his direction, Waveguide has grown to become a technology driven, cutting edge contractor and the largest fiber optic contractor in New England. Waveguide was recognized in 2009 as a top performer on the INC 5000 list of fastest growing privately held companies.
Prior to the inception of Waveguide, Carmichael studied fiber optic theory and application at FICO, a manufacturer of optical products and suppliers to OEMs, Contract Manufacturers, ILECs and CATV in the communications industry. Carmichael gained knowledge, and hands on experience with all aspects of manufacturing, and quality assurance testing. Carmichael was also Vice President of an industrial manufacturer, installer, and field service of overhead material handling systems.
Jacqueline Hayes - CFO
Jacqueline Hayes began her entrepreneurial and financial career in 1989 where she was the CFO and co-Owner of FICO, a $20 million manufacturer of optical products and suppliers to OEMs, Contract Manufacturers, ILECs and CATV in the communications industry.
While at FICO, Hayes developed and grew the business from a two-person partnership to a thriving ninety person company. She managed and spearheaded many aspects of maintaining a successful and profitable manufacturing company and successfully sold the business to Flextronics International in 2000.
In 1998, she partnered to start-up Waveguide. Hayes implemented all financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations and continues to provide leadership and coordination in the business planning, accounting and budgeting efforts of the company. With over 20 years of experience with mid-sized companies in the telecommunications field, Hayes is well versed in the industry and brings a vast amount of knowledge and understanding to her role as CFO and co-Owner at Waveguide.
Bob Brown - COO
Bob Brown is the COO and co-Owner of Waveguide. Brown brings over 25 years of experience in construction and operations management and 13 years of communications and plant construction, to Waveguide.
Brown joined Waveguide shortly after its inception in 1998, and quickly became versed in fiber optic theory and the telecommunications field. Since then, he has successfully managed and coordinated a ground crew of 25 fiber splice technicians and construction personnel. He was ultimately responsible for building a multi-million dollar DAS network in multiple cities and towns in MA, NH and RI with over 90 miles of fiber and more than 200 antennas. He also managed the underground placement of an eight mile, 432 fiber ring encircling Boston and Cambridge and has built new Head Ends and HUB replacement for fiber optic networks worth over $100 million.
Prior to joining the telecommunications field, Brown was the President and Co-owner of Chelmsford Foundations, a $2 million commercial concrete construction company. As President he was responsible for all operations, administration and sales.
A local graduate of Chelmsford High School, Brown went on to gain his BSBA from the University of Pittsburgh, College of Arts & Sciences in 1985. While there, he played Division I Football for the University of Pittsburgh.
